I have to say that Neal playing in the middle of a monsoon with the rain pelting him and the wind blowing everything on the stage around all backlit by the lights is about the most memorable sight I have seen at a concert. Amazing! I hope somebody got a utube of that. Rock god at his finest.

Everytime Deen hit his cymbals the rain went flying--another great visual. I guess the storm made the boys rise to a new level because they sounded great despite the storm and the technical difficulties. Arnel is like a little energizer bunny! Everyone in the audience was totally into the show even though we were all soaking wet. Great show and an unforgettable concert experience.

Arnel's attire during the early part of the show while it started to drizzle. Jonathan Cain at the background playing his piano that was covered to protect it from getting more wet.

What an experience!
Just got back to Phoenix from Tucson. We were stormed!!both by nature and Journey! Everybody were soaked from the rain, those who watched the show and the Journey as well. There was thunder, lightning, I thought at first there was something that exploded ! It's almost 2:3o am now, I need some rest. I feel soooo tired but so happy! Will post more once I wake up!

the journey concert was shortened by a moonsoon rain!!!! i think they sung less than 10 songs only if i'm not mistaken. at first it was exciting because it's like we were singing in the rain you know ala frank sinatra! the good thing was arnel was awesome!!! people are on their feet from start til the end! the venue was not SOLD OUT!!!!! it was OVER FLOWING!!! it seems like around 7 to 8 thousand to a 5,000 capacity venue. the concert wasn't enough though! damned moonsoon rain! i need to see tham in phoenix for the extended version! youtube videos will be out soon!!!

Amazing...My husband and I just came back from the concert. It is still raining so hard till now. So worth it, even driving 6 hrs from Albuquerque. I will definitely watch journey concert again, rain or shine. We both went home wanting more. Cheap Trick opened for 45 mins,it was a good performance. About 15 minutes into our Journey, with Arnel singing and jumping as well, rain poured so hard so they just finished the song (sorry I can't exactly remember, I think it was Stone in Love), then there was a pause for approximately 30 mins. The stage crew came to cover and wipe their instruments and the stage floor. I was thinking "Oh no, how can Arnel do his signature jumps now that the floor is wet". To our surprise he still did! Haha amazing performance still inspite of the circumstances. Thanks to the Journey boys, they were excellent especially with pleasing their fans rain or shine!

Well here it is the early the next morning. What an incredible, yet short show due to mother nature. Cheap Trick was awesome, playing for about 45 minutes and pulling out some songs that I'd never heard them do live before such as Voices and Tonight It's You!

Of course the crowed was just buzzing for Journey! Unfortunately, one huge monsoon was blowing in with wind, rain, lightning that could rival a fireworks display, and thunder that you could hear over the band! Journey hit the stage (sorry I don't remember the exact order) with Majestic, Never Walk Away, Only The Young, Neils Solo, Stone In Love, After All These Years, and Neil was doing another solo when the band was pulled from the stage. The whole performance the crowd was just getting soaked, even the people under the roof since the rain was coming in sideways, however I don't think one person left!

Unfortunately the band and all their equipment was also getting soaked. There was a couple of really close lightning strikes and the power in the amphitheatre flickered a couple of times. Then the stage manager came out and let the audience know that due to the lightning they were taking a break and weren't going anywhere because the band really wanted to give us the full show!
So during the next 30 minutes or so the stage and all of the equipment was covered in plastic and tarps and the crowd just hung around getting soaked! One of the things that sucked was during this time, the road crew began packing up most of the stage lighting and the huge video screen that was behing the band, leaving a pretty barren stage.
Finally the lightning began moving away and the gear that was left was uncovered. The stage manager came out and said that another storm was moving in so the band was just going to come out and play the greatest hits! The crowd went nuts as the band hit the stage with Seperate Ways, Don't Stop Believing, Open Arms, Wheel In The Sky, Anyway You Want It, and finally....Faithfully.

I think most of the crowd including myself was bummed we didn't get the whole show, but what we did get was beyond words...this is without a doubt the must see show of the year. And if nothing else, we got some great pictures and a night of memories that will last a lifetime!

Here in the desert this time of year we have what is known as Monsoon. When we arrived at the AVA lawn last night and positioned our blanket for the long time anticipated performance of my favorite band (JOURNEY) it seemed like the perfect evening however it was muggy and a heaviness in the air and as I scanned the horizon I could see dark clouds building in the distance. I told my wife, it's gonna rain. By the time Cheap Trick came on it was windy and lightning was flashing all around but still in the distance. The Cheap Trick guy with the cap (not a CT fan sorry don't know who he is) even made mention of it making a joke when he saw the lightning. I told my wife someone has made a boo boo here.....Journey should be on right now we are about to be slammed. Finally around 9:20 Journey hits the stage and it's incredible, and the winds are picking up and lightning getting closer...I'm distracted and scanning the skies. 3rd song...Stone In Love....wow this is great they sound awesome...Arnel is incredible...it begins to pour....Monsoon has arrived. The rain is blowing sideways into the pavillion everyone is getting soaked including the band. A lightning bolt crashes just off to our right with a thunderous boom...now I'm wondering if we will survive our first Journey concert, but we hold our blanket over our heads and endure. It's crazy, and the band plays on through Stone then the plug is pulled and we run to the car for refuge hoping it will pass. Finally the wing lets up and the rain is just a drizzle and I can hear them announce the band is going to play the greatest hits even though another "strong cell" is coming. We ran back inside soaking wet and pressed through the crowd just in the back of the pavillion, cold and shivering but it was worth it....the boys played hard...awesome just awesome and Arnel did not miss a beat..jumping all over the stage..he's fantastic and seems like the nicest guy! How can he sing that good while constantly moving...wow incredible. Finally "Faithfully" and we stood there loving each other and so glad for the moment and the memories we made. We will never forget our first Journey concert. I do want to hear them again without the rain and distractions. I hope they will come back soon! Those guys were great to come back out in those conditions and do what they did. I told my wife I think most bands would have been on their bus headed out of Tucson, but not Journey they rode out the storm....that's great guys and shows your character. I will close with this. Journey does not need a front band. My opinion...in light of the approaching huge storm last night (whoever is in charge of monitoring that kind of stuff had to know the weather situation) Cheap Trick should have been pulled and Journey had the whole evening. Sorry Cheap Trick fans my honest opinion for what it's worth.

i was there too, and you're absolutely right about the character that they showed for not abadoning the fans in the rain who paid to see them perform.truly a class act for a band supposed to be over the hill but found renewed purpose because of Mr. Pineda to climb mountains.they are truly amazing!!!

We drove from El Paso to Tucson to watch Journey's concert last night!!! It was awesome!!! I was so drenched ( well everybody was!!!!) but I did not care...I was having a time of my life!!! I was with other six friends and we were all hyped by the experience. I told them that this experience is one for my book and a fond memory I will always cherish. I am so proud of Arnel Pineda...I am beaming with pride that I have a kapwa pinoy on stage and belting those songs outs. It's just so sad that I did not have a camera to capture the moments but it will forever be etched in my "heart's digicam."

After the concert, we were still floored with emotions !!! None of the concerts I've watched can top this one! We went to Wal-Mart to buy new clothes so we can change and it was very funny because there were also other people from the concert buying clothes. We all laughed!!! No regrets! I am glad I was part of that concert!!!

Our first Journey concert in the rain, but a great experience and wouldn't have missed it. Our favorite Monsoon storm as well. We didn't mind the rain but were a little concerned for the bands equipment but appreciate them bearing the conditions out and pleasing their fans. My husband passed out his traditionally lights to new and old Journey fans we have made. I have to admit my favorite concert ever was Journey in Tucson June of 2005 and miss the magic of Augeri. That being said Arnel is great and will do the band justice. We think he has tapped into a new fan base from the Philippines. He seemed to really be enjoying himself and smiling threw the rain. We look forward to seeing Journey in Phoenix in October. Keep up the great work and we will continue to enjoy the new CD "Revelations". See you in Phoenix and the weather should be better.
